IOM visits the Regional Training Center of the Department of Border Service of the National Security Committee in Oral City
On March 12, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) visited the Regional Training Center of the Department of Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Oral City to hand over the training tools to support the Government measures in capacity building of Border Officers.
During the visit, IOM Sub-Regional Coordinator for Central Asia, Chief of Mission in Kаzakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Zeynal HAJIYEV participated in the сutting the ribbon ceremony marking the opening of a new classroom in the Training Center supported by IOM.
IOM and Border Service of the National Security Committee continue cooperation on capacity building of front-line officers in the field of countering transnational organized crime, irregular migration including the smuggling of migrants on a state border. Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, IOM supported the establishment of the Interagency Working Group (IAWG), which included representatives of the Border Service of the National Security Committee, the Border Academy of the National Security Committee, as well as the representatives of other government agencies of Kazakhstan, to develop the Training Support Package on Countering Migrants Smuggling with further aim of establishing the pool of national experts on this thematic area.
IOM also supports the Government’s efforts in the field of capacitating health and non-health agencies staff in addressing the challenges related to prevention of communicable diseases spread.
IOM will continue the bilateral cooperation with the Border Service of the National Security Committee on efforts in strengthening border security measures with due respect to migrants' rights.
