IOM continues to support the Government’s efforts in the area of Immigration and Border Governance
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in close cooperation with the Border Service of the Committee of National Security of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Border Academy of the Committee of National Security of the Republic of Kazakhstan, conducts a series of trainings on "Advanced methods of curbing migrant’s smuggling on a state border" for the authorized representatives of the relevant agencies. Representatives of the Migration Service Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan also take part in the training.
The Chairman of the Migration Service Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Aslan Atalykov, took part in the opening ceremony of the training in Shymkent city.
Capacity buildings sessions cover such topics as profiling, risk analysis, methods of interception of offenders from an international point of view, strengthening of interagency cooperation with consideration of migrants’ rights and needs.
The series of capacity building sessions are conducted within IOM’s Regional Project “Improving Migration Governance and Access to Services for Displaced Afghans in Pakistan and Central Asia” funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
According to the agreements reached, the next stage of the project will be aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of enhancing the capacities of representatives of the Migration Service Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
