Second National Dialogue Brings Together State Officials And Civil Society in Astana, Kazakhstan
SECOND NATIONAL DIALOGUE BRINGS TOGETHER STATE OFFICIALS AND CIVIL SOCIETY IN ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN
Astana, Kazakhstan — The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Dignity and Rights project implemented by the International Organization for Migration is conducting the Second National Dialogue «Promoting Orderly, Safe, Regular and Responsible Migration and Immediate and Effective Measures to Eradicate Human Trafficking in Kazakhstan» on June 2, 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan in coordination with the Socio-Cultural Development Committee of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in partnership with the National Commission on Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, the Ministry of Internal Affairs,
The event will gather representatives of state officials, civil society, and international organizations to enhance cooperation between the state and civil society in the field of promotion of orderly, safe, regular and responsible migration, combating human trafficking through strengthening protection and assistance system for victims of trafficking, and supporting state’s efforts in adaptation and integration of ethnic migrants through conducting research on efficiency of adaptation and integration centers.
In particular, the meeting will discuss the first-year results of the implementation of the pilot project on provision of state-funded special social services to victims of trafficking; the results of NGO migrants’ rights compliance monitoring on access to qualified medical services, fair trial, compensation to victims of trafficking and others; the experience of Akimats of Karagandy, Mangystau and South-Kazakhstan oblasts and civil society representatives on adaptation and integration for oralmans; and provide recommendations to address gaps and develop joint action plan to improve legislation and enforcement of the current legislation to protect rights’ of migrants and victims of trafficking in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Second National Dialogue will be held on June 2, 2017 at the conference hall Sary Arka I, Radisson hotel, located at 4 Saryarqa St, Astana 010000, Kazakhstan.
With the overall goal to advance human rights and dignity in Central Asia, both as an issue of public policy, as well as civic culture, the USAID Dignity and Rights Project, implemented by International Organization for Migration/The UN Migration Agency, Sub Regional Coordination Office for Central Asia, is one of the many assistance projects made possible by the American people through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Central Asia.
