Regional Workshop On Migration And Prevention, April 5-6 2017 in Osh, Kyrgyz Republic

REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON MIGRATION AND PREVENTION BRINGS TOGETHER STATE OFFICIALS, MIGRANT COMMUNITIES AND CIVIL SOCIETY IN OSH, KYRGYZSTAN

Osh, Kyrgyzstan — International Organization for Migration/The UN Migration Agency, Sub Regional Coordination Office for Central Asia, in coordination with IOM Kyrgyzstan and Search for Common Ground, and in close cooperation with the Mayor’s office of Osh city, is conducting a Regional Thematic Workshop on “Migration and Prevention” within the framework of USAID Dignity and Rights Project on April 5-6, 2017 in Osh, Kyrgyz Republic.

This capacity building event will gather representatives of state officials, community, spiritual, religious, civil society, and diaspora leaders from Central Asian countries to discuss social and economic issues of migration, integration/re-integration of migrants, vulnerabilities of migrants and potential of radicalization of the most vulnerable groups and strategies of preventing violent extremism.

The participants will also become familiar with the recommendations of the Regional field assessment on “Migrant Vulnerabilities and Integration Needs in Central Asia: Root causes, social and economic impact of return migration”, produced in 2016, within USAID Project “Dignity and Rights”, implemented by IOM.

The Regional Thematic Workshop is taking place on 5-6 April, 2017 at the Shanghai city hotel, located at 22 Nurmatova str., Osh city, Kyrgyz Republic.

With the overall goal to advance human rights and dignity in Central Asia, both as an issue of public policy, as well as civic culture, the USAID Dignity and Rights Project, implemented by International Organization for Migration/The UN Migration Agency, Sub Regional Coordination Office for Central Asia, is one of the many assistance projects made possible by the American people through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Central Asia.
