“Combating Trafficking in Persons – Monitoring of CTIP Efforts as Means of Protection of Rights of Victims of Trafficking and Vulnerable Migrants”

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan — International Organization for Migration/The UN Migration Agency, Sub Regional Coordination Office for Central Asia, in coordination with IOM Kyrgyzstan, and under the auspices of Chair of Almaty Process - the Kyrgyz Republic, is conducting a Regional Thematic Workshop on Combating Trafficking in Persons – Monitoring of CTIP Efforts as Means of Protection on Rights of Victims of Trafficking and Vulnerable Migrants» on April 3-4, 2017 in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.

Participants will include government representatives from the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Labor and Social Development, and other relevant ministries; civil society organizations involved in combating trafficking in persons from Central Asia countries; and diplomatic missions and international organizations in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The purpose of this regional event is to provide relevant government and non-government stakeholders with best practices on monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of national counter-trafficking efforts and their compliance with the government’s international commitments, as well as to further promote a regional approach on identification and referral of victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups based on experiences in Asia, the Pacific region, and the Balkan region.

The event is organized within the framework of the IOM program «Addressing Mixed Migration flows in Central Asia through capacity building» Phase III (2016-2017) funded by the Government of the United States (BPRM-PIM) and builds upon and complements the previous regional training conducted under Phase II in April, 2016 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The workshop will be held at the Conference Room of American University of Central Asia, located at 7/6 Aaly Tokombaev str., 12th microdistrict, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
