UN Migration Network

Nur-Sultan – In Kazakhstan, a national consultation on the UN Network on Migration has been launched with the participation of representatives of UN agencies.

The UN General Assembly, in its resolution 72/244 of 10 December 2018, confirmed the need to sign the "UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Legal Migration (GCM)". This agreement was supported by more than 150 countries, including the Republic of Kazakhstan.

To ensure a coordinated UN system-wide support to States in implementing the GCM, the UN Network on Migration was established.

The goal of the UN Network on Migration is to mobilize all international organizations in the Republic of Kazakhstan to solve problems related to migration flows. According to the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Antonio Guterres, the UN Migration Network will be based on a partnership in which the International Organization for Migration (IOM) / UN migration Agency will play a central role. The network has a flexible and inclusive structure and is aimed at promoting the coordinated work of complementary rather than duplicative organizations, with the ultimate goal of making migration beneficial for all.
