Kick-off Meeting on Development of the Manual on “International Migration Law: Return Migration”
Astana – The International Organization for Migration launched a kick-off meeting on the development of the manual on “International Migration Law: Return Migration”. The manual will be based on the regional course program on “International Migration Law (IML) and Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR)” developed by IOM within the framework of the Phase V of the project – “Asia Regional Migration Program” funded by the US Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, Government of the United States (PRM-PIM USA). The meeting brought together experts, academia and governmental agencies working in the area of migration in Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The goal of the meeting was to achieve a common understanding on content and structure of the manual, as well as to agree on a work plan.
It is expected that the manual along with the syllabus will become an integral part of the training course, which will be piloted in national training centers and academies of public administration in the respective countries of Central Asia. This course will build the capacity of state authorities in managing migration processes and facilitating orderly, safe, regular and humane migration in the region.
