Kazakhstan Officials Conclude Study Visit to the Republic of Korea
Seoul, Republic of Korea – The delegation of Kazakhstan officials recently concluded a study visit to the Republic of Korea between 30 September and 2 October, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and learning from Korea's best practices in various sectors. The visit, organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), included key meetings and discussions with Korean counterparts to foster collaboration and share knowledge. The visit was organized with the support of the Swiss Development and Cooperation (SDC) Agency.
The delegation, led by Askarbek Yertayev, vice-minister of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan, included Aslan Atalykov, Chairman of the Migration Service Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and key officials from the Administration of President and Office of the Government among others.
During the visit, the Kazakh delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with Korean counterparts, including representatives from the Ministry of Employment and Labour, Human Resources Development of Korea, and Korea Immigration Service (KIS) under the Ministry of Justice and IOM Republic of Korea. The meetings focused on enhancing government-to-government communication and finalizing the Bilateral Labor Agreement (BLA) process on the inclusion of Kazakhstan to the Employment Permit System (EPS) of Korea. The delegation also explored opportunities for business-to-business collaboration, aiming to promote mutual benefits and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
Another important initiative was the initiation of the Agreement on Migration of Population and the Agreement on Readmission. The Chairman of the Migration Service Committee conducted a positive preliminary discussion with the Korea Immigration Service.
Looking ahead, the Kazakh officials and their Korean counterparts have agreed to continue their collaboration, with plans for future visits. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the partnership between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and shared success in various sectors.
