IOM Coordinator for Central Asia/ Chief of the Mission in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Mr. Dejan Keserovic delivered a public lecture at Nazarbayev University, Astana (Kazakhstan), on April 13, 2017

On April 13, 2017, the Coordinator for Central Asia and Chief of Mission in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Mr. Dejan Keserovic, delivered a public lecture to the student and faculty members of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. The lecture focused on Migration Developments in the Central Asian region and was held in support of the IOM CA PhotoStory Project: Migrants: An Invisible Force in Central Asia (http://photostory.iom.kz/

Mr. Keserovic opened his lecture by providing a brief overview of the IOM’s global structure and its operations in Central Asia and moved on to the main human mobility trends in Central Asia since 2014. Mr. Keserovic paid special attention to the overarching issues of migration in the region, such as the impact of the re-entry bans, women and children vulnerabilities, potential for radicalization, and integration and re-integration of the returning migrants.

The IOM CA PhotoStory project was then presented and Mr. Keserovic invited the students to actively participate in submitting their stories and photos related to migration in Central Asia.
